Supported businesses look forward to a brighter future
There are 20 recognised supported businesses in operation in Scotland today, organisations where more than 50 per cent of the workers are disabled persons who are unable to take up work in the open labour market.
The Scottish Government is committed to furthering the development of supported businesses in Scotland, having set up the Supported Business Advisory Group and the Framework for Supported Factories and Businesses; actively promoting the use of Article 19 within public sector procurement and commissioning the 2013 independent Review of Supported Businesses in Scotland.
The Just Enterprise programme is now able to build on the Government's ongoing support by offering business development expertise to all 20 organisations as recognised by BASE Scotland.
The Just Enterprise programme is an extension of recent Government support and provides supported businesses with professional backing to boost their sustainability with the long-term economic benefits of a wealthier and fairer Scotland.
Just Enterprise will offer individual business support to all 20 BASE members, assisting 10 organisations in each of the next two years. This support will be delivered based on the areas identified in discussion with each and will be given by experienced Just Enterprise Advisers on a one-to-one consultancy basis. These will normally address specific challenges facing each business including marketing, business planning, strategic planning, financial management, procurement readiness and other business development support.
Support can be provided with both a practical or written output, depending on the needs of the business.
